meet the artist
Amy Henry Centola is a visual artist based in New Orleans. She is compelled to create by self expression, creative play and storytelling. Her initial career focused graphic design. She later went on to create her own line of apparel and stationery featuring her illustrations. Elements of her earlier disciplines can still be seen in her contemporary abstract expressionist paintings. Centola uses paint, paper, drawing tools and other mixed media in her narrative works. She includes shapes that allude to familiar objects. Creating a balance between the familiar and the abstract, she invites the viewer to be a part of her conversational paintings. Centola received her BFA from Louisiana State University and later studied at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. Her work has been exhibited in multiple shows at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art Gallery and appears in private collections across the country. Centola was 2024 artist in residence at the Academy of Sacred Heart in New Orleans and had her solo show in April.
